The ISCAR 5603465 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI designation HM90 APCR 220650R-P IC28. It is a single-sided, right-hand parallelogram insert with a positive rake geometry and a honed cutting edge style. Manufactured in the IC28 uncoated (bright) grade, it is engineered for cutting non-ferrous metals. The insert measures 0.54 inches in inscribed circle diameter and 0.24 inches thick, with a maximum depth of cut of 0.866 inches. Two cutting edges are available per insert. It is held in the cutter body by a screw clamp and is designed for use in the HELIALU series of milling bodies. Machinists and tool-room professionals install this insert in compatible face and shoulder milling applications.
This insert is suited for high-efficiency milling of non-ferrous workpiece materials such as aluminum and other light alloys. The positive rake geometry and honed edge reduce cutting forces and help achieve clean surface finishes on non-ferrous substrates. The uncoated IC28 carbide grade (material grade C5/C6) is selected specifically for these applications where a coating would not improve performance. The P-style chip breaker assists with chip control in these cuts. The insert fits cutter bodies in the HM90-22 series and is compatible with tools designed around the HM90 APCR 220650 insert size code.
Designed for use with HM90-22 series cutter bodies. The insert size code is 220650, and the compatible cutter series is HM90-22. Conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards with ANSI code HM90 APCR 220650R-P IC28 and ISO code HM90 APCR 220650R-P.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tool-room technicians. Always de-energize and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to tighten the clamping screw to the cutter body manufacturer's specification — do not over-torque the screw seat. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before placing the insert to ensure proper seating and runout.
