The ISCAR 5602959 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI designation HM90 APCT 100302R-PDR IC328. It is a single-sided, right-hand parallelogram-shaped insert with an 85-degree included angle and a positive rake geometry. The insert measures 0.139 inches thick and 0.274 inches inscribed circle diameter, with a cutting edge effective length of 0.398 inches and a maximum depth of cut of 0.386 inches. A TiCN physical vapor deposition (PVD) coating over the IC328 grade carbide substrate delivers wear resistance suited to demanding milling operations. The insert is screw-held and belongs to the HELI2000 series, compatible with HM90-10 cutter bodies.
This insert is designed for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces, covering ISO material groups P, M, and S. It is well suited to roughing and semi-finishing passes in these materials where a positive rake and honed cutting edge reduce cutting forces and heat generation. The PDR chip breaker geometry manages chip flow across a range of depths and feed rates within the HM90 platform. Typical users include CNC machinists and tooling setters working in aerospace, automotive, and general metalworking shops.
Designed for use with HM90-10 series cutter bodies within the ISCAR HELI2000 milling platform. The insert style APCT and size code 100302 must match the pocket specification of the cutter body. Verify cutter body pocket geometry and screw type before installation.
Installation of milling inserts should be performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians with the machine in a fully locked-out, zero-energy state per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to the screw-clamp torque range specified in the cutter body documentation — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the insert or damage the pocket seating. Inspect the pocket seat and clamping screw threads for chips or damage before seating a new insert. Handle carbide inserts with care; edges are brittle and can chip on impact.
