The ISCAR 5602499 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI designation HM90 ADKT 1505PDR IC908, designed for use in high-performance face and shoulder milling operations. Built on the HELI2000 platform, this single-sided, right-hand insert features a parallelogram shape with an 85-degree included angle and a positive rake geometry. The IC908 grade combines a submicron carbide substrate with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability across a broad range of workpiece materials. At 0.2300 inches thick with a 0.3800-inch inscribed circle diameter and a 1/32-inch corner radius, it is sized for the HM90-15 cutter body family. Two cutting edges are provided per insert.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, S, and H. Typical applications include roughing and semi-finishing passes on prismatic components in general machining, aerospace, and die-mold environments. The PDR chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation in both dry and wet cutting conditions. It is installed and changed by machinists and CNC toolroom technicians, with the screw-clamping holding method keeping setup time low during insert indexing.
Designed for use with HM90-15 series cutter bodies. ANSI code HM90 ADKT 1505PDR IC908; ISO code HM90 ADKT 1505PDR. Conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards.
Insert changes are performed by machinists or CNC toolroom technicians with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out per shop LOTO procedures. Use the correct torx or hex key specified for the HM90 cutter body screw to avoid stripping the clamp screw. Seat the insert fully into the pocket before tightening and verify there is no rocking. Do not exceed the maximum depth-of-cut rating for the insert size, as overloading will cause premature edge failure.
