The ISCAR 5602494 is a solid carbide milling insert in the HM90 APKT 1003PDR IC908 configuration, designed for high-performance face and shoulder milling in the HELI2000 series. Manufactured from submicron carbide substrate and finished with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, this insert delivers thermal resistance and edge toughness in demanding cutting environments. The parallelogram-shaped, single-sided insert features a positive rake geometry and a honed cutting edge style. With 2 cutting edges per insert, a 0.139 inch thickness, and a 0.266 inch inscribed circle diameter, it is suited for precise metal removal across a range of workpiece materials. Installation is secured via screw-holding method into compatible HM90-10 cutter bodies.
This insert is rated for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, covering ISO material codes P, M, K, S, and H. It supports a maximum depth of cut of 0.386 inches (8.00 mm) with a cutting edge effective length of 0.404 inches. The right-hand insert orientation and PDR chip breaker geometry make it well suited for general-purpose and finishing milling operations in CNC machining environments. Typical users include machinists and tooling technicians working in production shops, job shops, and aerospace or heavy industrial settings requiring consistent insert performance across mixed-material workloads.
Designed for use with HM90-10 series cutter bodies. ANSI code HM90 APKT 1003PDR IC908 and ISO code HM90 APKT 1003PDR identify this insert within compliant tooling systems.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians using the screw-holding method standard to HM90-series cutter bodies. Ensure the cutter body is removed from the spindle and the machine is locked out before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key as specified by the cutter body manufacturer to avoid damaging the insert pocket or clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or wear before seating a new insert to ensure proper seating and accurate cutting geometry.
