The ISCAR 5602492 is a solid carbide milling insert in the HM90 APKT 1003PDR IC950 configuration, designed for use in positive-rake face milling and shoulder milling operations. Part of the HELI2000 series, this right-hand insert features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, which supports wear resistance across a range of metal-cutting applications. The parallelogram-shaped insert has an inscribed circle of 0.2660 inches, a thickness of 0.1390 inches, and a corner radius of 0.0315 inches (0.80 mm). It seats with a screw-holding method and delivers two cutting edges per insert. Licensed machinists and tooling specialists install this insert into compatible HM90-10 cutter bodies on CNC machining centers.
This insert is suited for milling steel and cast iron workpieces, covering material grades C1, C2, C3, C5, and C6 (ISO P and K designations). The PDR chip breaker geometry is optimized for these primary workpiece materials. Typical applications include roughing and semi-finishing passes on ferrous components in production machining environments. The maximum depth of cut reaches 0.3860 inches (8.00 mm), and the effective cutting edge length is 0.4040 inches. This insert is appropriate for both job shop and high-volume manufacturing setups where consistent insert geometry is required.
Designed for use with HM90-10 series cutter bodies. Compatible cutter series designation is HM90-10 as specified by the manufacturer. Verify cutter pocket geometry and screw size against the HM90 toolholder documentation before installation.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician familiar with indexable carbide tooling. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before handling inserts or toolholders. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's recommended procedure — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Inspect the pocket seat and clamping screw for wear or damage before fitting a new insert.
