The ISCAR 5602490 is a solid carbide milling insert in the HM90 APKT 1003PDR IC928 designation, designed for use in positive-rake face milling and shoulder milling operations. This single-sided, parallelogram-shaped insert features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process using the IC928 grade, which is engineered for cutting steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The insert measures 0.451 inches in length, 0.266 inches in inscribed circle diameter, and 0.139 inches thick. With 2 cutting edges, a honed cutting edge style, and an 11-degree relief angle, it delivers consistent chip control through the PDR chip breaker geometry. Screw-held mounting keeps the insert firmly seated during aggressive cuts.
This insert is suited for use in CNC machining centers and milling machines running the HELI2000 series cutter platform, specifically compatible with HM90-10 series cutter bodies. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and ramping operations on steel and stainless steel components in production and job shop environments. The 0.386-inch maximum depth of cut and 0.404-inch cutting edge effective length make it appropriate for medium to heavy stock removal. Right-hand cutting orientation applies. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians.
Designed for use with HM90-10 series cutter bodies in the HELI2000 platform. ANSI code HM90 APKT 1003PDR IC928 and ISO code HM90 APKT 1003PDR apply for cross-reference purposes.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC technician. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key specified by the cutter body manufacturer to secure the insert screw to proper seating without overtightening. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before mounting a new insert.
