The ISCAR 5602403 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI designation LNKX 1506PNTN in manufacturer grade IC910. It is a double-sided, butterfly-shaped tangential insert with four cutting edges, an AlTiN PVD coating, and a negative rake geometry with T-Land cutting edge style. The IC910 grade is engineered for high-speed milling of steel and cast iron. The inscribed circle measures 0.2360 inches, thickness is 0.5460 inches, and the cutting edge effective length is 0.5906 inches. The insert is held by screw clamping and is designed for use in TANGMILL-series cutter bodies. Licensed machinists and tooling specialists are the primary installers.
This insert is suited for face milling and shoulder milling operations in ferrous materials, primarily steel and cast iron, in both production and job-shop environments. The PNTN chip breaker geometry handles a range of cutting conditions across light to moderate depths of cut. Maximum depth of cut is 0.2760 inches (7.00 mm). The neutral hand designation makes the insert compatible with both left- and right-hand setups. It is appropriate for CNC machining centers and manual horizontal or vertical mills configured for tangential insert cutter bodies.
Compatible with ISCAR TANGMILL-series cutter bodies in the following series: FDN, SDN, SSB, F86, and F90. Designed for machining steel (material code P) and cast iron (material code K) per ISO 513 classification. Material grades C2, C3, and C6 apply.
Installation and indexing of milling inserts should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw; do not exceed the cutter body manufacturer's specified clamp torque. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating each insert. Confirm correct insert orientation and hand designation before returning the cutter to service.
