The ISCAR 5602364 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI designation APKT 1604PDR-76 in grade IC928. It belongs to the HELIMILL series and is engineered for positive-rake face milling and shoulder milling operations. The insert features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, which provides thermal resistance and wear protection at elevated cutting speeds. With a parallelogram shape, an 85-degree included angle, and a right-hand cutting orientation, it delivers two usable cutting edges per insert. The IC928 grade is formulated for productive machining of steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Licensed metalworking technicians and CNC machinists are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is designed for use in HELIMILL series milling cutters and suits a range of production and job-shop environments where steel, stainless steel, and difficult superalloy or titanium workpieces are machined. The parallelogram geometry and chamfered-and-honed cutting edge style support stable chip formation and help reduce cutting forces on the workpiece. The screw-clamping insert holding method provides secure, repeatable seating in compatible toolholders. Applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and general-purpose milling in both roughing and semi-finishing passes on steel and heat-resistant alloy components.
Designed for use in HELIMILL series milling toolholders accepting APKT 1604 style inserts with screw-clamping retention. Suited for machining steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpiece materials (material codes P, M, and S).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Before replacing inserts, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is secured in a vise or toolholder block. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque - consult the HELIMILL toolholder documentation for fastener requirements. Inspect the insert pocket and locating surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper registration and prevent premature edge failure.
