The ISCAR 5602215 is an octagon-shaped solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI designation OFMT 05T305TN-76 IC328 and belonging to the HELIOCTO series. The insert is PVD-coated with TiCN for wear resistance and runs a positive rake geometry with a T-Land cutting edge style. With 8 usable cutting edges, a 0.50-inch inscribed circle, and a 0.1570-inch thickness, it is engineered for high-productivity face and shoulder milling in demanding materials. The IC328 grade and PVD TiCN coating combination is suited for machining steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Screw-clamped and single-sided, it seats securely in compatible HELIOCTO milling bodies.
This insert is used in HELIOCTO-platform milling cutters for both roughing and semi-finishing passes on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces. Typical applications include face milling and shoulder milling in aerospace, energy, and general machining environments where consistent edge life and surface finish are required. The 76 chip breaker geometry manages chip flow effectively at moderate to aggressive feed rates. The neutral hand designation means it fits right- and left-hand tool bodies without modification. Machinists and CNC programmers in job shops and production facilities regularly specify this insert for multi-material setups.
Designed for use with ISCAR HELIOCTO series milling cutter bodies that accept OFMT 05T305 style inserts with screw clamping. Compatible material grades C2, C3, C5, and C6 workpiece classifications are supported per the IC328 grade specification.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to tighten the clamping screw to the tool body manufacturer's specified torque; do not over-tighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw threads for chips or damage before seating a new insert.
