The ISCAR 5601896 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI designation ADKT 1505PDR-HM in grade IC950. It features a parallelogram shape with an 85-degree included angle, a positive rake geometry, and a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process. The insert is sized at 0.616 inches long, 0.377 inches wide, and 0.222 inches thick, with a 1/32-inch (0.0315-inch) corner radius. Designed for right-hand cutting, it provides two usable cutting edges per insert and a maximum depth of cut of 0.472 inches. The HM chip breaker geometry is suited for productive milling in steel and cast iron applications. Licensed ISCAR tooling specialists and machining technicians are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is engineered for use in steel and cast iron milling operations, including both ferrous casting and structural steel workpieces. It fits within the HELIMILL series cutter platform and is compatible with ISCAR cutter series ETS, FTS, ADK, and E90. The IC950 grade with PVD TiAlN coating provides wear resistance and thermal stability well suited to moderate-to-high cutting speeds on P-group and K-group workpiece materials. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and contour milling on CNC machining centers in job shop and production environments.
Compatible with ISCAR HELIMILL series cutter bodies in the ETS, FTS, ADK, and E90 cutter series. Verified compatible workpiece material groups are P (steel) and K (cast iron) per ISO material classification.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Before changing inserts, power down the machine spindle completely and follow lockout/tagout procedures per applicable shop safety standards. Use the correct torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the cutter body specification — do not overtighten, as this can crack the carbide insert. Verify insert seating and runout before returning the cutter to service.
