The ISCAR 5601368 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI designation APKT 1003PDTR-RM in manufacturer grade IC250. It is designed for use in positive-rake face milling and shoulder milling applications, seating in screw-retained toolholders within the HELIMILL HM90-10 cutter series. The insert features a parallelogram shape with an 85-degree included angle, a right-hand cutting orientation, and a chamfered and honed cutting edge style. A PVD-applied TiCN and TiN multilayer coating provides wear resistance and edge integrity when cutting steel and stainless steel. With 2 cutting edges per insert and a maximum depth of cut of 0.386 inches, this insert delivers consistent performance in medium to semi-finishing operations.
This insert is suited for milling steel and stainless steel workpieces in both production and job-shop environments. It fits residential and commercial machine shop applications alike, including CNC machining centers running face mills and square shoulder mills. The insert size code 1003 and HELIMILL HM90-10 cutter compatibility make it a direct-fit option for shops already running that tooling platform. Material grades C5 and C6 classify it for use across a range of steel and stainless alloys. It is installed by machinists and tooling technicians following standard insert indexing procedures.
Designed for use in the ISCAR HELIMILL HM90-10 cutter series. Insert size code 1003 with ANSI code APKT 1003PDTR-RM IC250 and ISO code APKT 1003PDTR-RM. Conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards. Intended for screw-retained insert seats in compatible right-hand milling bodies.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Before indexing or replacing inserts, power down the spindle completely and follow lockout procedures per machine-specific safety protocols. Use the correct torx or hex key at the manufacturer-specified seating torque for the cutter body; refer to the ISCAR toolholder documentation for that value. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
