Product Description

The ISCAR 5601332 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI and ISO designation APKT 1604PDR-HM in manufacturer grade IC328. It is designed for use in HELIMILL series milling cutters and delivers a positive rake geometry with a chamfered and honed cutting edge for efficient chip formation. The insert features a TiCN coating applied via PVD process, providing wear resistance during demanding milling operations. With a maximum depth of cut of 0.5512 inches and a cutting edge effective length of 0.6024 inches, it is suited for productive face and shoulder milling in production environments. Machinists and tooling technicians working on CNC machining centers are the primary installers.

This insert is intended for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces, covering material application codes P, M, and S. The HELIMILL series is used extensively in medium to high-volume production milling on CNC machining centers in both industrial and job-shop environments. The right-hand, single-sided design and screw-holding method make it a straightforward replacement in compatible HELIMILL toolholders. The HM chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation when cutting difficult-to-machine alloys and high-temperature superalloys where thermal and mechanical loads are elevated.

Key Features

  • TiCN PVD coating for wear resistance on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium
  • Positive rake geometry with chamfered and honed cutting edge for reduced cutting forces
  • HM chip breaker design supports controlled chip flow in difficult-to-machine materials
  • Maximum depth of cut of 0.5512 inches with a cutting edge effective length of 0.6024 inches
  • Screw-held, right-hand, single-sided insert for secure seating in HELIMILL toolholders
  • Compliant with ANSI and ISO 13399 standards for insert identification and tooling data

Compatibility

Designed for use in ISCAR HELIMILL series milling toolholders that accept APKT 1604 size inserts. Compatible applications include milling of steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium per material codes P, M, and S.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians on CNC or manual milling machines. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified procedure. Inspect the insert pocket seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
