The ISCAR 5600498 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ISO designation SEKR 1203AFTR-HS in the IC520M manufacturer grade. It features a square insert shape with a 90-degree included angle, four cutting edges, and a right-hand orientation. The insert measures 0.5000 inches in both length and width with a thickness of 0.1250 inches and an inscribed circle of 0.5000 inches. A CVD-applied TiCN coating provides wear resistance across a broad range of cutting conditions. The positive rake geometry and T-Land cutting edge style support productive material removal rates. Licensed machinists and CNC toolroom technicians install this insert in compatible milling cutter bodies.
This insert is engineered for milling steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces, covering material grades C2, C3, C5, and C6 with ISO material codes P, M, and K. It is suited to both roughing and semi-finishing passes in general metalworking environments. The HS chip breaker geometry manages chip flow effectively on interrupted cuts and continuous milling in those primary workpiece materials. Maximum depth of cut reaches 0.2560 inches (6.50 mm), making it applicable to moderate stock removal operations on horizontal and vertical machining centers as well as manual knee mills equipped with compatible cutter bodies.
Designed for use with the ISCARMILL F45E cutter series. ANSI catalog designation is SEKR 42AFTR-HS IC520M. Suitable for steel (P), stainless steel (M), and cast iron (K) workpiece materials per ISO material classification. Meets ANSI and ISO 13399 insert standards.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or clamp screw driver specified by the cutter body manufacturer and verify the insert seats fully and flush against the pocket before resuming cuts. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before each insert change to prevent premature edge failure.
