The ISCAR 5600049 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI designation APKT 1003PDR-HM in manufacturer grade IC520M. It features a parallelogram shape with an 85-degree included angle, a positive rake geometry, and a TiCN coating applied by CVD process. The insert measures 0.431 inches in length, 0.264 inches in inscribed circle diameter, and 0.14 inches in thickness, and weighs 0.02 pounds. It is designed for indexable milling operations and seats into compatible HELIMILL-series cutter bodies using a screw-holding method. Right-hand cutting orientation and chamfered, honed cutting edges contribute to stable chip formation across a range of workpiece materials.
This insert is intended for use in milling steel, stainless steel, and cast iron in both production and job-shop environments. It is compatible with the HELIMILL HM90-10 cutter series. The IC520M grade and CVD TiCN coating make it well suited to moderate-to-high cutting demands on ferrous materials, including interrupted cuts typical in face milling and shoulder milling applications. Installation is performed by machining professionals or toolroom technicians. The insert is single-sided with two available cutting edges per insert, providing a cost-effective edge count for medium-volume machining programs.
Designed for use with ISCAR HELIMILL HM90-10 cutter series bodies. Material grade designations C2, C3, C5, and C6 indicate suitability for workpiece material groups P (steel), M (stainless steel), and K (cast iron) per ISO classification.
Insert replacement is performed by machining technicians; power down and lock out the machine spindle before servicing any cutter body. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to the cutter body manufacturer-specified torque when seating the screw-clamped insert. Inspect the insert pocket seat for chips or debris before seating a new insert, as contamination will affect runout and edge life. Handle carbide inserts with care to avoid chipping the cutting edges prior to use.
