The ISCAR 5599989 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal-cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to the CCGT060204 ISO geometry, this insert features an 80-degree diamond shape with a positive rake angle and a 1/64-inch (0.016-inch) corner radius. The IC20 uncoated carbide grade is well-suited for finishing applications where sharp edges and tight tolerances are the priority. At 6.40 mm (0.252 inches) in length with a 1/4-inch inscribed circle and 3/32-inch thickness, it fits standard CCGT-style toolholders and is held in place with a screw-clamp system. Part of the Isoturn series, this insert is intended for machinists and CNC operators working in production or job-shop environments.
The ISCAR 5599989 is suitable for turning a broad range of workpiece materials, including hardened materials (ISO H), cast iron (ISO K), stainless steel (ISO M), non-ferrous materials (ISO N), and heat-resistant superalloys (ISO S). The AS chip breaker geometry is optimized for light finishing cuts, making it appropriate for applications that demand fine surface finish and close dimensional control. The uncoated IC20 grade performs well at lower cutting speeds and is commonly selected for difficult-to-machine materials where coated grades may lose edge integrity. Maximum depth of cut is 2.01 mm (0.079 inches).
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for CCGT060204-style toolholders. Compatible with standard screw-clamp CCGT insert seats. The manufacturer catalog number for this insert is CCGT 2-1-AS per ISCAR documentation.
This insert is installed and replaced by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Always power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to secure the clamp screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified method — do not overtighten, as solid carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excessive clamping force. Confirm insert seating and edge orientation before resuming cutting operations.
