The ISCAR 5598832 is a DCMT-style solid carbide turning insert in the Isoturn series, designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a 55-degree diamond shape with a positive rake geometry and a 7-degree relief angle, making it well suited for profiling and finishing cuts. The insert is coated with TiAlN and TiN via a PVD process under the IC907 manufacturer grade, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production turning environments will find this insert appropriate for moderate to high-demand applications.
This insert is designed for use in turning applications where the primary workpiece materials are hardened steels (H), stainless steels (M), and superalloys (S), as well as cast iron (K), non-ferrous materials (N), and steel (P). The DCMT geometry with the PF chip breaker promotes positive cutting action and chip control during light-to-medium finishing passes. It fits screw-lock insert pockets, which are common on standard DCMT-compatible toolholders used in both manual and CNC turning setups. The Isoturn series targets precision turning tasks where consistent surface finish and tight tolerance holding are priorities.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for DCMT-compatible screw-lock turning toolholders accepting a 3/8 inch inscribed circle insert size. Compatible with workpiece material grades C7 and C8 per standard material classification.
Installation is performed by licensed machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified insert screw to seat the insert fully in the pocket without over-torquing. Inspect the pocket seat and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert to ensure accurate positioning and avoid premature edge failure.
