The ISCAR 5597810 is a DCGT-style solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external and internal turning operations. Manufactured under the Isoturn series, this insert features a 55-degree diamond shape with a positive rake geometry and a 7-degree relief angle, making it well suited for light to medium finishing cuts. The IC907 grade substrate is coated with TiAlN and TiN via a PVD process, providing thermal resistance and wear performance across a range of workpiece materials. The insert measures 0.457 inches in length with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius. It is held in place by a screw-clamping system and is installed by CNC machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
This insert is intended for turning applications involving hard materials, stainless steels, superalloys, and general ISO-coded workpiece materials including H, K, M, N, P, and S classifications. The SM chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation during finishing and semi-finishing passes. Typical use cases include turning centers, lathes, and CNC applications where tight tolerances and consistent surface finish are required. The positive rake design reduces cutting forces, which benefits thin-wall or difficult-to-machine workpiece configurations.
Designed for use in DCGT-style screw-clamp turning toolholders compatible with insert size code 3-1. Suitable for workpiece materials classified under ISO material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S. Material grades C7 and C8 apply. Verify toolholder seat geometry and clearance requirements before installation.
This insert is installed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to tighten the clamping screw to toolholder manufacturer specifications — do not overtighten, as this can crack the carbide substrate. Inspect the toolholder seat and shim for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
