The ISCAR 5596898 is a solid carbide turning insert in the WNMG432TF IC907 configuration, designed for use in CNC and manual turning operations on a lathe. It carries the IC907 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN dual coating, providing wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted and continuous cuts. The insert features an 80-degree trigon (W-style) geometry with a positive rake and a TF chip breaker. Insert length is 8.70 mm (0.3425 inches), inscribed circle is 0.5000 inches, and corner radius is 1/32 inch (0.0315 inches). It is part of ISCAR's Isoturn series and is held in place by clamp or pin style toolholders.
This insert is suited for turning applications across a range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature superalloys, corresponding to ISO material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S. The TF chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium to finishing operations. Typical applications include external and internal profile turning in both production shop and job-shop environments. It conforms to ISO 13399 standards, making it compatible with toolholder data systems used in modern CAM and tooling management workflows.
Designed for use in WNMG432-style toolholders that accept clamp or pin insert retention. Compatible with ISO material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S workpiece materials. Material grade classification C7 and C8.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician. Before replacing the insert, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out per shop safety procedures. Seat the insert firmly against the toolholder pocket and tighten the clamp or pin to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert to avoid improper contact and premature edge failure.
