The ISCAR 5596001 is a solid carbide turning insert carrying the SNMG431TF designation and IC907 manufacturer grade. It features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, delivering high wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum. The insert has a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, a 3/16-inch thickness, and a 1/64-inch corner radius. With a 90-degree included angle and negative side clearance, it is engineered for stable, controlled cuts in both roughing and medium machining operations. Licensed machinists and CNC lathe operators are the primary users of this insert.
This insert belongs to ISCAR Isoturn series and is suited for external and internal turning on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. The TF chip breaker geometry supports roughing and medium machining passes, making it appropriate for production environments where consistent chip control is required across variable feed rates and depths of cut. Maximum depth of cut is 0.1575 inches (4.00 mm). It is a practical choice for job shops and production facilities working with steel and stainless steel components, as well as cast iron and non-ferrous materials.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit insert for standard SNMG toolholders accepting a 431 ANSI size code insert with clamp or pin holding. ISO equivalent designation is SNMG120404. Conforms to ISO 13399 standards.
Insert installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the insert fully into the toolholder pocket before engaging the clamp or pin; an improperly seated insert can fracture under cutting load. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or damage before each insert change. Do not exceed the recommended maximum depth of cut for the workpiece material and machine rigidity.
