The ISCAR 5592379 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCGT style, designed for precision external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to the IC520 grade with a PVD-applied TiCN and TiN coating, it offers wear resistance suited to finishing and semi-finishing passes. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape (shape code C), a positive rake geometry, and an AS chip breaker configuration. Key dimensions include a 0.25-inch inscribed circle, a corner radius of 0.0157 inches (1/64 inch), and an insert length of 0.252 inches (6.40 mm). A licensed machinist or CNC turning specialist installs this insert using the screw-holding method.
This insert is rated for primary workpiece material codes M, N, and S, covering stainless steel, non-ferrous materials, and heat-resistant superalloys respectively. It is part of the Isoturn series and is sized under the 2-1 insert size code. Maximum depth of cut is 0.0787 inches (2.00 mm), making it well suited for finishing and light semi-finishing applications where dimensional accuracy and surface finish are critical. The insert conforms to ISO 13399 standards for cutting tool data representation.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement turning insert for toolholders accepting CCGT-style inserts with a 0.1102-inch (2.80 mm) hole diameter and screw-clamp holding method, as part of the ISCAR Isoturn series.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torque screwdriver for the clamping screw to avoid cracking the carbide substrate — do not overtighten by hand or with standard hex keys beyond the toolholder manufacturer's specified procedure. Inspect the toolholder seat and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating the new insert.
