The ISCAR 5592199 is a CNMG431TF IC907 grade indexable turning insert designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a physical vapor deposition (PVD) TiAlN coating over a solid carbide substrate, which delivers high wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials. The insert has an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, a 3/16 inch thickness, and a 1/64 inch corner radius. Chip breaker geometry is rated for roughing and medium machining operations. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in metalworking and precision machining environments are the primary installers.
This insert is suited for turning steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), and aluminum and non-ferrous materials (N), as well as heat-resistant super alloys (S). The TF chip breaker geometry handles both roughing and medium cutting passes, making it a practical choice for shops that need a single insert style across multiple material types and feed rate ranges. Maximum depth of cut reaches 4.00 mm (0.1575 inches). The IC907 grade emphasizes high to moderate wear resistance with adequate toughness across P, M, K, and N material classes. Typical applications include shaft turning, facing, and contour operations on manual or CNC turning equipment.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit indexable insert for toolholders accepting CNMG431 geometry with negative clearance (N) and medium tolerance (M) per ANSI and ISO indexing standards. Suitable for toolholders in the ISCAR Isoturn series that accept CNMG120404 inserts per ISO size coding.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators following standard indexable insert changeover procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before removing or seating the insert. Seat the insert fully against the pocket locating surfaces before tightening the clamp or pin to avoid chatter or premature edge failure. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or wear before seating a new insert.
