The ISCAR 5591946 is a WNMG-style carbide turning insert designed for precision metal removal on CNC and manual lathes. It features a CVD-applied TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN multilayer coating and an 80-degree trigon insert shape, giving it strong cutting geometry with moderate clearance. The IC9250 grade is engineered for productive cutting in steel and stainless steel applications. With an inscribed circle of 0.3748 inches and an insert length of 0.2567 inches (6.52 mm), this insert fits standard WNMG toolholders and is part of the ISCAR Isoturn series. Installation is performed by licensed machinists and CNC operators.
This insert is suited for turning operations on steel (ISO P) and stainless steel (ISO M) workpieces in both roughing and finishing passes. The GN chip breaker geometry supports chip control across a range of feed rates and depths. Maximum depth of cut is 0.1378 inches (3.50 mm). Typical applications include OD turning on production lathes in job shops, manufacturing facilities, and maintenance machining environments where consistent tool life on ferrous and stainless materials is required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard production insert for WNMG toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, 5/32-inch thickness insert within the Isoturn series. Compatible with primary workpiece materials classified as ISO P (steel) and ISO M (stainless steel).
This insert is installed by machinists or CNC operators following standard indexable insert replacement procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully in the toolholder pocket and torque the clamp or pin fastener per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installation to ensure proper seating and accurate tool geometry.
