The ISCAR 5591339 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CNGG 430.5-SF geometry, manufactured to ISO 13399 standards and designed for precision turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries an IC907 grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN multilayer coating, which delivers wear resistance and thermal stability across a broad range of workpiece materials. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape with a 0.008 inch corner radius and a 0.508 inch insert length, making it well suited for profiling and finish turning where tight tolerances are required. The SF chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip formation at light to moderate feed rates.
This insert belongs to ISCARs Isoturn series and is intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals running production or job-shop turning operations. Its primary workpiece material compatibility covers steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials, corresponding to ISO material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S. The CNGG insert style is held by clamp and pin, and it fits standard toolholders designed for that mounting method.
Designed for use in standard CNGG-style toolholders that accept clamp and pin insert holding. Compatible with machining of ISO material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials. Confirm toolholder seat geometry and insert pocket dimensions before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, de-energized state. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the insert securely without cracking the carbide substrate. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating the new insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturers clamping procedure and do not substitute clamp hardware between incompatible systems.
