The ISCAR 5590080 is a solid carbide boring insert in the DCGT3AS style, designed for precision turning and boring operations on difficult-to-machine materials. Carrying the IC520 manufacturer grade, this insert features a PVD-applied TiCN and TiN coating that provides wear resistance and surface hardness at the cutting edge. The 55-degree diamond shape with a positive rake and AS chipbreaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation during finishing and semi-finishing passes. With a 0.004-inch corner radius and a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, this insert suits applications demanding tight tolerances and consistent surface finish. It weighs approximately 0.03 pounds per piece and is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10.
This insert is engineered for use on hard materials, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, corresponding to ISO workpiece material codes M, N, and S. It is part of the ISCAR Isoturn series, which targets external and internal turning, profiling, and boring in CNC lathe and turning center setups. The DCGT3AS style and IC520 grade combination makes this insert well suited for shops running tight-tolerance finishing work on aerospace, medical, and general engineering components where workpiece material toughness demands a durable PVD-coated carbide solution.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use insert for toolholders accepting DCGT style inserts with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and conforming to ISO 13399 geometry standards.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician following the toolholder manufacturer's torque and clamping specifications. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or damage before seating a new insert. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut or recommended feed rates specified by the toolholder and machine manufacturer.
