The ISCAR 5569338 is a VNMG331-F3P indexable carbide turning insert from the Isoturn series, coated with TiAlN and TiN via a PVD process using ISCARs SumoTec proprietary coating technology. It is designed for right-hand turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert is manufactured from solid carbide with a diamond (V) shape and a 35-degree included angle, making it well-suited for profiling and finishing passes where clearance geometry is essential. Key dimensions include a 16.60 mm insert length, a 9.52 mm inscribed circle, a 4.76 mm thickness, and a 0.40 mm corner radius. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible VNMG-style toolholders.
The F3P chip breaker geometry targets finish to semi-finish turning applications across a broad range of workpiece materials. Designated primary workpiece material codes include H (hardened materials), K (cast iron), M (stainless steel), P (steel), and S (heat-resistant superalloys), making this a versatile insert for shops running mixed-material work. The insert carries an M tolerance code and N clearance code per ISO 13399 standards. Typical applications include external diameter turning, shoulder turning, and contour profiling on production and job-shop turning equipment.
Designed for use in VNMG-style turning toolholders accepting a 331 insert size. Compatible with turning applications on workpiece material codes H, K, M, P, and S as specified in the product data.
Installation is performed by CNC machinists or tool-crib technicians using the appropriate torx or hex key to seat the insert in a compatible VNMG toolholder. Always index or replace the insert with the machine fully stopped and the spindle locked out per shop lockout-tagout procedures. Do not exceed the specified maximum depth of cut for this insert geometry, as overloading a finishing insert can cause premature chipping. Confirm insert orientation for right-hand cutting direction before resuming operation.
