The ISCAR 5567520 is a WNMG331-M3P carbide turning insert coated with a CVD-applied TiCN/Al2O3/TiN multilayer finish. It carries the IC8250 grade designation and is engineered for high wear-resistance across a range from toughness-demanding roughing cuts to moderate wear-resistance in medium machining. The insert features an 80-degree trigon (W) shape with a negative side clearance and a corner radius of 0.0157 inches (1/64 inch). Insert length is 6.52 mm (0.2567 inches) with an inscribed circle of 0.3748 inches (3/8 inch) and an insert thickness of 0.1874 inches (3/16 inch). It belongs to ISCAR Isoturn series and conforms to ISO 13399.
This insert is intended for turning operations on steel (ISO P) and stainless steel (ISO M) workpieces. The M3P chip breaker geometry is suited for roughing and medium machining passes where chip control and edge toughness are both critical. Typical applications include external and internal turning on CNC lathes and turning centers in production and job-shop environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working with ferrous and stainless alloys will find this insert appropriate for interrupted and continuous cuts at moderate-to-aggressive feed rates. The maximum recommended depth of cut is 2.50 mm (0.0984 inches).
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit insert for WNMG331 (ISO: WNMG060404) toolholders that accept W-shape, negative-clearance inserts with a clamp or pin holding method. Verify toolholder pocket specifications before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine in a locked-out, zero-energy state before any insert change. Use the correct torque wrench and clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer - do not over-tighten the clamp screw. Inspect the insert pocket seating surface and shim for wear or debris before seating the new insert. Handle carbide inserts with care to avoid chipping the cutting edge prior to use.
