The ISCAR 5567497 is a carbide turning insert with the ISO designation SNMG432-M3P, designed for right-hand external turning operations. It carries the IC8250 manufacturer grade and features a multilayer MTCVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN for wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted and continuous cuts. The insert has a 0.5 inch (12.70 mm) inscribed circle, a 0.031 inch (0.80 mm) corner radius, and a thickness of 0.187 inch (4.76 mm). The M3P chip breaker geometry provides a positive rake angle suited for medium turning applications. Installation is performed by qualified machinists on CNC or manual lathes.
This insert belongs to the ISCAR Isoturn series and is intended for turning steel (ISO P) and stainless steel (ISO M) workpiece materials. The square insert shape (90-degree included angle, clearance code N, tolerance code M) makes it a standard choice for OD turning, facing, and profiling where a rigid, high-edge-strength geometry is required. Maximum depth of cut reaches 6.00 mm (0.236 inch), making it appropriate for moderate material removal rates in both production and job-shop environments.
Designed for use in SNMG-style turning toolholders accepting a 1/2 inch inscribed circle square insert. Compatible with ISO P (steel) and ISO M (stainless steel) workpiece materials as indicated by the primary workpiece material codes. Verify toolholder seat geometry, clamping style, and chip breaker clearance before installation.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's guidelines. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified procedure; avoid over-tightening, which can crack the insert. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a fresh insert.
