The ISCAR 5566869 is a DCMT-style solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external and internal turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. Part of the ISCAR Isoturn series, it carries an IC8150 grade designation and features a multi-layer MTCVD-applied TiCN/Al2O3/TiN coating that delivers wear resistance across a broad range of cutting conditions. The insert has a 55-degree diamond shape (Shape Code D), a positive rake geometry, and an F3P chip breaker configuration. Insert length is 11.60 mm (0.457 inches), inscribed circle is 9.52 mm (0.375 inches), thickness is 3.97 mm (0.156 inches), and corner radius is 0.40 mm (0.016 inches). Maximum depth of cut is 2.00 mm (0.079 inches). Weight is approximately 0.01 pounds per insert.
This insert is suited for turning ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials classified under ISO material groups K, M, and P — covering cast irons, stainless steels, and carbon and alloy steels. The F3P chip breaker geometry is intended for light to medium finishing passes where controlled chip formation and surface finish are priorities. It is installed in right-hand DCMT-compatible toolholders on CNC turning centers and conventional lathes in production machining, job shop, and maintenance environments. Machinists and CNC operators in metalworking and industrial manufacturing settings are the primary users.
Designed for use in right-hand DCMT-style toolholders compatible with the DCMT 3-1 insert size code. Fits standard DCMT pocket geometry with a 7-degree relief angle (Clearance Code C) and Tolerance Code M. Part of the ISCAR Isoturn series.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed with the machine fully powered down and spindle locked. Use the toolholder manufacturer's recommended torque wrench and clamp screw for secure seating — do not overtighten by hand. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert. Handle carbide inserts with care; edges are brittle and can chip if dropped or mishandled during installation.
