The ISCAR 5566868 is a DCMT-style solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external and internal turning operations. Manufactured under the Isoturn series, this right-hand insert features a multilayer MTCVD-applied TiCN/Al2O3/TiN coating under the IC8150 grade, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability across a range of metalcutting applications. The 55-degree diamond shape provides a sharp, positive rake geometry that reduces cutting forces and improves surface finish. Key dimensional specs include an inscribed circle of 9.52 mm, an insert length of 11.60 mm, a thickness of 3.97 mm, and a corner radius of 0.20 mm. This insert meets ISO 13399 standards and is intended for installation by machinists and CNC turning professionals.
The ISCAR 5566868 is suited for turning operations on cast iron (ISO K), steel (ISO P), and stainless or mixed-material workpieces (ISO M), covering a broad range of common shop materials. With a maximum depth of cut of 2.00 mm, it is well matched to finishing and semi-finishing passes on CNC lathes and turning centers. The F3P chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip evacuation in these cut ranges. This insert is used in both job-shop and production environments where consistent dimensional tolerances and tool life are priorities.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use insert for DCMT-style toolholders in the Isoturn series. Compatible with primary workpiece materials classified under ISO K (cast iron), ISO P (steel), and ISO M (stainless and mixed materials) per the supplier attribute data.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's torque and clamping specifications. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or damage before seating a new insert. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut rating for this insert geometry to avoid premature edge failure.
