The ISCAR 5566814 is a double-ended CNMG-style turning insert designed for precision turning operations on stainless steel and steel workpieces. It carries the IC8250 manufacturer grade and features a multilayer CVD coating sequence of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN applied over a solid carbide substrate. The 80-degree diamond shape (Insert Shape Code C) provides a strong cutting edge geometry, while the F3P chip breaker promotes positive rake cutting and effective chip control. With a 0.5 inch inscribed circle and a 1/32 inch corner radius, this insert suits medium-duty turning and facing passes where edge stability and surface finish both matter.
This insert belongs to ISCAR's Isoturn series and is intended for use in compatible CNMG 432-style turning toolholders on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Its primary workpiece material ratings cover stainless steel (ISO code M) and carbon and alloy steel (ISO code P), making it a practical choice for general-purpose turning, facing, and profiling in job shop and production machining environments. The maximum depth of cut is 3.51 mm (0.138 inches), which positions it for finishing to medium roughing passes. Machinists and CNC operators working in metalworking shops are the primary installers and users of this insert.
Designed for use in CNMG 432-style turning toolholders. ISO code CNMG 432-F3P. Compatible with primary workpiece materials stainless steel (ISO M) and steel (ISO P). Rated for facing operations as a multi-use application.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine in a full stop and lockout condition. Ensure the toolholder pocket and clamping surfaces are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Use the appropriate torx or clamp screw torque as specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten, as this can crack the insert. Verify insert orientation and chip breaker direction relative to the programmed cutting path before resuming operation.
