The ISCAR 5566806 is a solid carbide turning insert carrying ISO designation SNMM 544-R3P and manufacturer grade IC8250. It is a square-shaped, single-end insert designed for external turning operations in CNC and manual lathe applications. The insert features a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN applied over a solid carbide substrate, providing wear resistance and thermal protection during continuous and interrupted cuts. With a 5/8-inch inscribed circle, a 1/16-inch corner radius, and a maximum depth of cut of 0.374 inches, it is suited for medium to heavy stock removal on stainless steel and steel workpieces. Installation is performed by qualified machinists and CNC setup technicians.

This insert belongs to the ISCAR Isoturn series and is engineered primarily for turning stainless steel and carbon or alloy steel. The R3P chip breaker geometry and 90-degree square shape make it well suited for facing operations as well as general longitudinal turning. It is held in the tool holder using a clamp and pin method, which is standard for SNMM-style insert pockets. The insert fits toolholders that accept SNMM 544 inserts with N clearance and M tolerance codes per ISO 13399.

Compatibility

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing the insert. Use the correct torque wrench and clamp screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer to avoid insert cracking or clamp damage. Inspect the insert pocket and locating pin for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
