The ISCAR 5566734 is a CNMG-style indexable turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured from submicron-grade solid carbide and coated with TiAlN via a PVD process using ISCAR's proprietary SumoTec coating technology, this insert delivers improved wear resistance and thermal stability during continuous and interrupted cuts. The insert measures 0.381 inches in length with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 3/16-inch thickness, and a 1/64-inch corner radius. It features an 80-degree diamond shape, a neutral relief angle, and a positive rake geometry. The M3M chip breaker is engineered for medium-duty turning and facing operations. Licensed ISCAR-certified machinists and CNC operators will find this insert well suited to high-productivity general turning applications.
This insert is part of the ISCAR Isoturn series and is intended for turning and facing operations on a range of workpiece materials, including steel and other materials classified under ISO material group P and S codes. The double-ended design provides two usable cutting edges per insert, reducing per-edge tooling cost. The insert is held in place using a clamp-and-pin method and fits toolholders designed for CNMG 331 geometry. Maximum depth of cut is 3.99 mm (0.157 inches). The IC806 grade with SumoTec PVD TiAlN coating is suited for medium to high cutting speeds where extended tool life is a priority.
Designed for use in CNMG 331-compatible toolholders that accept a clamp-and-pin holding method. Fits standard Isoturn series toolholding systems designed for CNMG insert geometry. Verify toolholder specification against ISCAR Isoturn series documentation before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and ISCAR-specified clamping hardware to secure the insert; do not substitute non-OEM clamps or pins. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the insert to ensure accurate positioning and prevent premature edge failure.
