The ISCAR 5566718 is an ICM0272 replaceable carbide tip drill insert designed for use in ISCAR ICM series modular drill bodies. Manufactured from submicron solid carbide in grade IC908, this insert features a PVD-applied TiAlN coating and a 140-degree included angle point for aggressive chip evacuation and accurate hole entry. The T-Land insert geometry with web thinning reduces thrust force and improves centering at the start of the cut. At 0.272 inches in cutting diameter and 0.169 inches in functional height, this insert targets high-production drilling operations where insert replacement replaces the need to swap out an entire drill body.
This insert is engineered for drilling stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium as primary workpiece materials, making it well-suited for aerospace, medical, and energy sector machining environments. Secondary workpiece materials include steel, cast iron, and hard materials. The slow spiral flute type and T-Land style are matched to the cutting demands of these difficult-to-machine material groups. This product is sold individually per package with a minimum order quantity of 2 units and conforms to ISO 13399 standards for cutting tool data representation.
Designed as a replaceable tip insert for ISCAR ICM series modular drill bodies with an insert seat size of 6.5 and ISO Number ICM 069. Consult the ISCAR ICM series drill body selection guide to confirm body compatibility before ordering.
Installation of replaceable tip drill inserts should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician following the drill body manufacturer's assembly procedure. Ensure the drill body and insert seat are clean and free of chips or debris before seating the insert. Secure the insert using the twist-lock method specified for the ICM series body. Always disengage the machine spindle and verify the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing inserts.
