The ISCAR 5566680 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CNMG432-M3P geometry, part of the Isoturn series. It carries an IC8150 manufacturer grade and features a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, TiCN, and TiN applied in sequence for wear resistance and thermal stability. The insert has an 80-degree diamond shape, a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32 inch (0.0313 inch) corner radius. Insert length is 12.90 mm (0.508 inch) and insert thickness is 3/16 inch (0.1875 inch). The M3P chip breaker geometry is suited for medium machining applications on cast iron and steel. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the typical installers.
This insert is designed for turning and facing operations on cast iron and steel workpieces in CNC lathe and turning center applications. The double-ended design provides two usable cutting edges per insert, extending tool life per unit. The M3P chip breaker promotes controlled chip formation during medium-depth passes, making it practical for both roughing and semi-finishing scenarios. Maximum depth of cut is 5.51 mm (0.217 inch). The insert conforms to ISO 13399 standards and uses a clamp and pin holding method, which suits standard CNMG toolholders in production turning environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement turning insert for standard CNMG toolholders accepting a 1/2 inch inscribed circle, 3/16 inch thick, double-ended insert with clamp and pin holding. Primary workpiece materials are cast iron (ISO material code K) and steel (ISO material code P).
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Before indexing or replacing an insert, power down the spindle and confirm the machine is in a safe, locked-out state per shop safety procedures. Seat the insert fully against the pocket locating surfaces before tightening the clamp to ensure proper edge registration. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for wear or debris prior to seating the new insert.
