The ISCAR 5560583 is a VNMG331-F3P turning insert manufactured from solid carbide with a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN. Designed for single- or double-end use on CNC and manual lathes, it fits into the Isoturn series toolholder system. The 35-degree diamond shape (Shape Code V) with a positive rake angle and F3P chip breaker geometry makes this insert well suited for medium-finish turning passes. The inscribed circle measures 0.375 inches, insert length is 0.654 inches (16.61 mm), insert thickness is 0.1875 inches, and the corner radius is 0.0156 inches (1/64 inches). The IC8250 manufacturer grade is optimized for consistent tool life on stainless steel and carbon steel workpieces.
This insert is intended for turning operations on stainless steel (ISO material code M) and steel (ISO material code P) in both production and job-shop environments. The F3P chip breaker geometry is suited for finishing and light-to-medium roughing depths of cut up to 0.079 inches (2.01 mm). Typical applications include shaft turning, facing, and contour turning on CNC lathes in industrial machining, maintenance, and fabrication settings. Installation and setup are performed by machinists and CNC operators following standard ISO 13399 toolholder interface practices.
Designed for use in ISCAR Isoturn series toolholders that accept VNMG-style inserts. Compatible with clamp-and-pin holding methods. Intended for primary workpiece materials stainless steel (ISO code M) and steel (ISO code P). Verify toolholder pocket specifications against the VNMG 331 insert geometry before installation.
Insert seating and clamping is performed by machinists per machine tool manufacturer and toolholder OEM procedures. Power down and lock out the spindle drive before changing inserts. Ensure the toolholder pocket and clamping pin are free of chips and debris before seating the insert to prevent micro-fractures at the cutting edge. Torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification only — do not estimate.
