The ISCAR 5560537 is a solid carbide turning insert in the VNMG332M3M geometry, designed for precision external and internal turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. It carries the IC6015 manufacturer grade and is CVD coated with a TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN multilayer stack, providing wear resistance and thermal stability across a wide range of cutting conditions. The insert features a 35-degree diamond shape (V-code), a neutral 0-degree relief angle (N clearance code), and a positive rake geometry. The M3M chip breaker geometry is engineered to control chip flow and reduce cutting forces, making this insert well-suited for medium to finishing passes on stainless steel and similar ISO M-classification workpiece materials.
This insert is part of ISCAR's Isoturn series and is intended for use in turning centers and lathes where consistent chip control and surface finish are required. The IC6015 grade with CVD coating is optimized primarily for stainless steel (ISO M materials) but also performs on other materials requiring moderate cutting edge toughness. It is held in the toolholder via clamp and pin retention methods, compatible with standard VNMG-style toolholders. Installation and tool changes are performed by machinists and CNC operators following standard insert indexing procedures.
Designed for use in VNMG-style turning toolholders that accept clamp and pin retention. Optimized for ISO M primary workpiece material classification (stainless steel and similar alloys). Refer to ISCAR toolholder compatibility charts for specific holder model selection.
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by qualified machinists with the machine spindle fully stopped and the machine placed in an energy-isolated (locked out) state. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp screw per the toolholder manufacturer's specifications. Inspect the insert pocket seating surface for chips or debris before seating the insert. Wear cut-resistant gloves when handling carbide inserts, as edges are sharp.
