The ISCAR 5550396 is a round RCMT-style turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual lathe applications. Built from solid carbide and coated with TiCN and Al2O3 via a CVD process, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability across a range of workpiece materials. It features a 20 mm inscribed circle, a 6.50 mm hole diameter, and a maximum depth of cut of 10.00 mm (0.394 inch). The positive rake geometry and 7-degree relief angle reduce cutting forces and support cleaner chip evacuation. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert as part of the Isoturn series tooling system.
This insert is suited for turning operations on steel and cast iron workpiece materials, corresponding to ISO material groups P and K. It fits into screw-held RCMT-style toolholders and is appropriate for both roughing and finishing passes within its rated depth-of-cut range. The Isoturn series is common in production turning environments where consistent insert geometry and repeatable indexing are required. The T-style chip breaker supports controlled chip formation across varying feed rates.
Designed for use in RCMT-style screw-held turning toolholders within the ISCAR Isoturn series. Compatible with ISO material group P (steel) and group K (cast iron) workpiece materials. Insert size code is 2006M0; verify toolholder acceptance of a 20 mm inscribed circle and 6.50 mm hole diameter before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque; do not overtighten. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and runout control.
