The ISCAR 5540017 is a solid carbide turning insert in the SCGT 432-AS geometry, designed for positive-rake single-point turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the ISCAR Isoturn series, this uncoated IC20 grade insert features a square insert shape with a 90-degree included angle, a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch (0.0315 inch) corner radius. It is held in place by a screw-lock method and suits applications where sharp cutting edges and free-cutting action are priorities. The insert measures 3/16 inch thick and accommodates a maximum depth of cut of 0.157 inch (4.00 mm).
