The ISCAR 5540013 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the DCGT style, part of the Isoturn series. Designed for precision external and internal turning operations, this insert features a 55-degree diamond shape with a positive rake geometry, making it well suited for finishing cuts on a range of workpiece materials. The AS chip breaker geometry promotes reliable chip control at light depths of cut. With an inscribed circle of 0.3748 inches, a corner radius of 0.0079 inches, and a maximum depth of cut of 0.098 inches, this insert is built for tight-tolerance finishing work. It is installed via screw-clamping and conforms to ISO 13399 standards. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is intended for use in light to moderate turning applications on cast iron, non-ferrous materials, stainless steel, and heat-resistant alloys, consistent with its K, M, and N primary workpiece material ratings. Its positive rake and fine corner radius make it particularly effective in finishing passes where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are critical. It fits toolholders designed to accept DCGT-style inserts with the corresponding screw-on clamping method. The IC20 grade indicates an uncoated solid carbide formulation appropriate for applications where coating would not provide additional benefit, such as certain non-ferrous and finishing operations.
Designed for use in DCGT-style screw-clamp toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle insert. Compatible with workpiece material groups K, M, and N as the primary designation, with broader compatibility across H, K, M, N, P, and S material codes. Material grades C2 and C3 apply.
This insert is installed by a machinist or CNC turning technician using the appropriate screw-clamp toolholder for DCGT geometry. Ensure the machine is fully stopped and the spindle is locked before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully and evenly against the toolholder pocket before tightening the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the insert seat and screw threads for damage or debris before installation to maintain accurate positioning.
