The ISCAR 5530131 is a solid carbide helical boring bar designed for internal turning and bore finishing operations on CNC lathes and machining centers. It features a right-hand cutting direction and a TiAlN finish coating that extends tool life in ferrous and hardened materials. The 8 mm shank diameter and 43 mm overall length suit compact tooling setups where rigidity and reach must be balanced. The IC908 carbide grade is optimized for interrupted cuts and general-purpose internal machining. A 0.1 mm corner radius keeps edge definition tight for close-tolerance bore work.
This boring bar is suited for small-bore internal turning applications in production and job-shop environments. The helical flute geometry promotes chip evacuation in blind and through-bore configurations. It is typically run on CNC turning centers and live-tooling setups by machinists and toolroom technicians working to tight diameter tolerances in materials ranging from steel to cast iron.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement boring bar compatible with standard 8 mm shank boring bar holders used in CNC turning and machining center applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the shank fully in the boring bar holder to the specified clamping depth before operation. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tooling station is indexed away from the workpiece before changing or setting the boring bar. Verify runout and overhang are within machine and application requirements before starting a cut.
