The ISCAR 5510330 is a CNMG 331-M3M turning insert in the Isoturn series, manufactured from solid carbide and coated via CVD with a TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN multilayer finish. It carries the IC6015 manufacturer grade, which is engineered for cutting stainless steel and other difficult-to-machine materials. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/64-inch corner radius. At 9.68 mm (0.381 inches) in length and 3/16-inch thickness, it fits standard CNMG toolholders. The M3M chip breaker geometry promotes positive rake cutting action, helping control chip flow during facing and general turning operations. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling specialists are the primary installers.
This insert is rated for use in ISO material group M, with stainless steel identified as the primary workpiece material. The M3M chip breaker is optimized for facing applications where reliable chip evacuation and edge stability are critical. It is a double-ended insert, allowing for two usable cutting edges per insert, which extends tool life per unit. The insert conforms to ISO 13399 standards, making it compatible with toolholder systems that reference that data format. Typical applications include OD turning and facing on CNC lathes in production and job-shop environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit insert for CNMG-style toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, 3/16-inch thick insert with clamp and pin holding method, per ISO CNMG 331 form factor.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Secure the insert using the appropriate clamp and pin hardware specified for the toolholder; do not substitute holding hardware. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or wear before seating a new edge to ensure proper seating and runout.
