The ISCAR 5510255 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DNMG432M3M geometry, part of the Isoturn series. It carries a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, which provides thermal resistance and wear protection during continuous and interrupted turning operations. The insert has a 55-degree diamond shape, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, a corner radius of 0.0313 inches (1/32 inch), and an insert length of 15.5 mm (0.6102 inches). The manufacturer grade is IC6015, which is suited for cutting stainless steel and similar ISO M-group workpiece materials. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC turning specialists on lathes and turning centers.
This insert is designed for external and internal turning applications on ISO M-group materials, primarily stainless steels. The M3M chip breaker geometry supports medium cutting conditions. The positive rake angle aids in reducing cutting forces on tougher workpiece materials. Maximum depth of cut is 5.0 mm (0.197 inches). Typical applications include finishing to semi-roughing passes on lathe and turning-center setups in job shop and production machining environments. Compatible holding methods include clamp and pin-style toolholders sized to the DNMG insert format.
Designed as a replacement or application-matched insert for DNMG-style toolholders using clamp or pin clamping, with a clearance code of N and tolerance code of M per the DNMG insert standard.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully and evenly in the pocket before tightening the clamp or pin to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for debris or damage before each installation to ensure proper support and prevent premature edge failure.
