The ISCAR 5510185 is a DNMG432M3M-geometry turning insert in grade IC6025, designed for single-point turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. The insert is manufactured from solid carbide and finished with a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN in that sequence, providing a combination of wear resistance and thermal protection suited to interrupted and continuous cuts. The 55-degree diamond shape (ISO code D) delivers a sharp, narrow cutting geometry. Key dimensional values include a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, a 0.625-inch insert length (15.5 mm), a 3/16-inch thickness (0.1875 inches), and a 1/32-inch corner radius (0.0313 inches). The M3M chip breaker geometry is optimized for positive-rake cutting action.
This insert is specified primarily for turning stainless steel workpieces, corresponding to ISO material group M. Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine powered down and the spindle locked. Use the correct torque wrench and seating screw for the toolholder manufacturer's specified clamping torque — do not over-tighten, as this can fracture the carbide. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before seating the insert. Always verify tool offset data in the CNC controller after indexing or replacing an insert before returning the machine to cycle.
