The ISCAR 5510174 is a CNMG432M3M indexable turning insert in the IC6025 grade, designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This solid carbide insert features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, which provides wear resistance, thermal stability, and crater resistance across a range of cutting conditions. The 80-degree diamond shape (C) and M3M chip breaker geometry support stable chip control in medium machining applications. Insert length is 12.9 mm (0.508 inches) with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch (0.0313-inch) corner radius. Thickness is 3/16 inch (0.1875 inches).
This insert is suited for turning stainless steel and other ISO M workpiece materials, consistent with the IC6025 grade designation and the primary workpiece material classification in the product data. The Isoturn series targets general-purpose turning with positive rake geometry, making it applicable to both roughing and semi-finishing passes where controlled chip evacuation is required. The M3M chip breaker is engineered for medium depths of cut, with a maximum depth of cut of 5.00 mm (0.197 inches). Typical installations include shaft turning, facing, and profiling operations on horizontal and vertical turning centers in production and job shop environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard indexable insert for ISCAR Isoturn toolholders accepting CNMG 432 inserts with clamp or pin clamping. Confirm toolholder pocket geometry and clamping style before installation.
Indexable turning inserts are installed and changed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before accessing the turret or tool station. Use the appropriate torque wrench and manufacturer-specified seating hardware when securing the clamp or pin; do not overtighten by hand. Inspect the insert pocket and shim for wear or debris before seating a new insert, and confirm correct insert orientation to the cutting direction before resuming operation.
