The ISCAR 5510111 is a solid carbide turning insert with the form designation WNMX452M4MW and manufacturer grade IC806. The insert features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, providing thermal and wear resistance during interrupted and continuous turning operations. It carries an 80-degree trigon shape (W), a positive rake geometry, and a zero-degree relief angle (clearance code N). The inscribed circle measures 0.5 inches, insert length is 0.3425 inches (8.70 mm), insert thickness is 0.2670 inches, and corner radius is 0.03125 inches. This insert belongs to the ISCAR Heliturn series and is designed for use by machinists and tooling specialists working on CNC turning centers.
This insert is engineered for turning applications on superalloys and stainless steels, reflected by its primary workpiece material code S and secondary material code M. The M4MW chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation in medium-to-finishing cuts. Maximum depth of cut is 0.1970 inches (5.00 mm). The insert is held by clamp and pin, which is standard for this insert style on compatible Heliturn toolholders. Typical applications include shaft turning, facing, and profiling operations in aerospace, medical, and general precision machining environments.
Designed for use in ISCAR Heliturn series toolholders that accept WNMX-style inserts with clamp and pin holding. Conforms to ISO 13399 tooling data standards. Verify toolholder pocket specifications against the WNMX insert style and size code 452 before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully into the pocket and confirm the clamp and pin are engaged and torqued per the toolholder manufacturer specification before resuming operation. Do not exceed the rated maximum depth of cut of 0.1970 inches per pass.
