The ISCAR 5510107 is a solid carbide turning insert with the CNMX451M4MW geometry, designed for high-performance external turning operations. Carrying the IC806 submicron carbide grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability in demanding cutting applications. The 80-degree diamond shape (insert shape code C) provides a strong cutting edge, while the wiper edge geometry supports improved surface finish at higher feed rates. Insert length measures 12.9 mm (0.508 inches) with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius. The M4M chip breaker and positive rake configuration are matched to medium-finish turning passes on difficult-to-machine materials.
This insert is engineered primarily for superalloy workpiece materials (ISO material code S), including nickel-based, titanium, and cobalt alloys common in aerospace, power generation, and medical manufacturing environments. It also carries a secondary rating for stainless steel (material code M). The CNMX clamping style uses a clamp-and-pin holding method, making it compatible with toolholders designed for that interface. Maximum depth of cut is 5.00 mm (0.197 inches). Installation is handled by machinists and CNC turning specialists working on lathes and turning centers where tight tolerances and long tool life in hard materials are required.

This insert is installed and indexed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing or indexing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench for the clamping screw to avoid seat damage - refer to the toolholder manufacturer specifications for that value. Inspect the insert pocket and locating pin for wear or debris before seating the new insert.
