The ISCAR 5510106 is a solid carbide turning insert in the SNMG432EMR IC806 geometry, part of the Isoturn series. It features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, delivering heat and wear resistance suited to demanding turning operations. The insert has a 90-degree square shape with a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, a 3/16-inch thickness, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. With four cutting edges and a positive rake geometry, it provides consistent chip control through the EM-R chip breaker configuration. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible turning toolholders for precision external and internal turning applications.
This insert is designed primarily for turning stainless steel and heat-resistant superalloys (ISO material group S), with secondary suitability for steel workpieces (ISO material group M). The IC806 grade with submicron carbide substrate and TiAlN PVD coating is well matched to medium-duty interrupted and continuous cutting conditions at moderate-to-high cutting speeds. It is commonly used in production turning environments on CNC lathes requiring consistent edge life and dimensional accuracy. The EM-R chip breaker geometry promotes effective chip evacuation across a range of feed rates and depths of cut up to 0.2362 inches (6.00 mm).
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard production insert for SNMG 432-style turning toolholders using clamp and pin insert holding methods, per ISO 13399 interface standards.
Installation of turning inserts should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine powered off and the spindle fully stopped. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket locating surfaces before tightening the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque. Inspect the cutting edge and seating pocket for chips or debris before each edge rotation. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and machine guarding requirements when indexing or replacing inserts.
