The ISCAR 5510000 is a solid carbide turning insert with TNMG432TF geometry and IC806 grade, designed for precision metal turning on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert carries a PVD-applied TiAlN coating over a submicron carbide substrate, which supports cutting performance in demanding applications. It features a 60-degree triangular shape, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. Insert length is 22 millimeters (0.866 inches) and thickness is 3/16 inch (0.1875 inches). The TF chip breaker geometry is engineered for positive-rake cutting. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible toolholders as a production or replacement cutting edge.
This insert is rated for cutting superalloys and titanium as its primary workpiece materials, corresponding to ISO material group S. It belongs to the ISCAR Isoturn series and is suited for finish to medium turning operations where controlled chip formation and edge integrity are critical. The positive rake angle and TF chip breaker make it applicable in low-to-medium depth of cut scenarios, with a maximum depth of cut of 4.00 millimeters (0.1575 inches). It is held by clamp and pin methods in compatible TNMG-style toolholders.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for TNMG-style toolholders accepting a 432 insert size with clamp and pin holding. Consult toolholder specifications to confirm seat and clamp compatibility before installation.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer - do not overtighten the clamp screw, as this can fracture the insert or damage the toolholder seat. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert.
