The ISCAR 5509977 is a carbide replaceable tip drill in the FCP series, designed for high-productivity drilling operations in metalworking applications. The drill tip is manufactured from solid carbide at the IC908 submicron material grade and is finished with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating for extended tool life at elevated cutting temperatures. The cutting diameter measures 0.827 inches, the functional length is 0.311 inches, and the overall height is 0.339 inches. The geometry features a 140-degree drill point angle, a slow spiral flute configuration, a flat bottom style, and a web-thinned point for improved centering and reduced thrust. It is installed by CNC machinists and toolroom technicians using compatible FCP-series holders.
This replaceable tip drill is suited for drilling operations on steel and cast iron as primary workpiece materials, designated under ISO material codes P and K respectively. Secondary workpiece material compatibility covers stainless steel, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials under ISO codes M, S, and H. The FCP series design allows the tip to be indexed or replaced at the machine without removing the drill body from the spindle, reducing changeover time in production environments. Typical applications include through-hole and blind-hole drilling on CNC machining centers and lathes in job shop and production settings.
Designed for use with FCP-series replaceable tip drill bodies accepting insert seat size 21, ISO number FCP 210, using a twist insert holding method.
Installation and tip changes should be performed by qualified machinists with the spindle stopped and the machine placed in an energy-isolated state per applicable lockout/tagout procedures. Use the correct torque wrench or key specified for the FCP holder to seat the tip without over-torquing the retention mechanism. Verify cutting diameter and projection against the setup sheet before resuming cuts. Inspect the insert seat and mating surfaces for chips or debris before seating a replacement tip.
