The ISCAR 5509967 is a carbide replaceable tip drill from the FCP series, designed for precision hole making in metalworking applications. The drill features a 0.63-inch (16.00 mm) cutting diameter, a 140-degree drill point angle, and a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process. It is manufactured with a submicron solid carbide tip using ISCAR grade IC908, which provides hardness and thermal resistance suited to high-speed cutting in ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials. The straight flute design and web-thinned geometry help control chip flow and reduce entry force. This is a single replaceable tip unit intended for use in a compatible FCP series drill body.
The 5509967 is suited for hole making, chamfering, and drilling operations in production machining environments. Primary workpiece materials are steel and cast iron (ISO material codes P and K). Secondary workpiece materials include stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO material codes M, S, and H). The flat point geometry and straight spiral type make it appropriate for through-hole and short-hole applications where consistent entry and exit geometry is required. Machining centers and CNC lathes with live tooling are the typical platforms for this insert style.
Designed for use with ISCAR FCP series replaceable tip drill bodies accepting insert seat size 16, conforming to ISO 13399 standards (ISO Number FCP 160). Verify body compatibility before ordering.
Replaceable tip drills of this type are installed and serviced by machining professionals on CNC machining centers or mill-turn equipment. Power down and lock out the spindle before replacing the tip. Use the manufacturer-specified torque tool for the clamp mechanism to ensure proper seating. Do not exceed the recommended cutting parameters for the IC908 grade in the materials being machined.
